At first glance, most of the entries are of publishable standard, and almost all the entries kept to the 750 word limit. Some entrants appear to have read the judging criteria more carefully than others.

The cities, towns and villages featured cover almost everywhere in the world from New Zealand to Alaska. Curiously some place have attracted two or more entries including Budapest, Quebec City and Whitby!

Our exciting Writing Competition is Free To Enter and offers a prize of £100 to the author of the best entry, as judged by the Editorial Staff of SeniorTravelExpert.com.

We are seeking aspiring or established travel writers to send us interesting, original travel writing about any City, Town or Village.

It may be where you live, or it could be somewhere you’ve visited, or somewhere you would like to visit.

The winning entry will be the one that is judged to most effectively persuade readers of the Senior Travel Expert website that this is somewhere they really want to visit!

Although this website is aimed at seniors (meaning anyone 55 years old or above) you most certainly don’t need to be a senior yourself to submit an entry – far from it! Anyone 16 years old and above is invited to submit an entry.

Entries should be no more than 750 words in length, but may be much less, and should be written in English. Entries can be factual or fictional.

Please read the full Terms and Conditions before entering. The closing date for entries is midnight on Thursday, April 30th, 2015.

The winning entry will receive a cash prize of £100.

Ten runners-up will each receive a £10 firstwriter.com subscription voucher. The winning entry and runner-up entries will be published on this website.

If you’d like to get some ideas for your article, take a little journey around our site to read some of the travel articles we have published recently, for example, about the town of Budva in Montenegro. But we are sure you can do much better!

If you are thinking of a fictional entry, then bear in mind that many people visit places because of fictional connections, for example, lots of fans of Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula are drawn to the town of Whitby.

In order to assist travellers, entrants are asked to recommend a hotel or other accommodation within or near the City, Town or Village they have chosen that would appeal to readers of the Senior Travel Expert website.

It may be somewhere you already know or check the Trivago Accommodation Site for some ideas.

When you are ready to submit your entry, please fill in and submit the form below, typing or pasting your entry into the My Entry box. Confirmation of receipt of your entry will be sent to your email address.

Our previous Travel Writing Competition closed on June 1st, 2014. Please see Inaugural Travel Writing Competition – Winner and Runners-up for the results and links to the entries which have been published on this site.
