Other Hotels

Best Western Hotels

Best Western claims to be the ‘World’s Largest Hotel Family’ with over 4,000 hotels in more than 100 countries branded as Best Western, Best Western Plus and Best Western Premier.

They offer 10% discount for the over 55s (over 65s in some countries) at most of their hotels throughout the world, including those in the USA, Australia and many European countries. These discounts cannot be obtained through the Best Western UK site but can be accessed by clicking on the special Best Western logo  link here and then under ‘Special Rates’ selecting ‘AARP/Senior Rate’.

Their UK hotels do not give Senior discounts (hopefully this will change in the future), but some good offers on rates can be obtained through this same special link.

A future post will tell you how to make the most of their Best Western Reward points

Marriott Hotels and Resorts

Marriott Hotels and Resorts have more than 500 properties in 60 countries. They offer anything from 5 to 30% discount for Seniors (62 and over) depending on the hotel and room rate. In some cases free entry to the Executive Lounge is included.

To access these special rates, click on the Marriott Hotels & Resorts logo. Choose where and when you wish to stay by clicking on ‘Explore Properties’, then under ‘Special Rates & Awards’ select ‘Senior Discount’.

Radisson Hotels

Radisson Hotels, part of the Carlson Rezidor chain, has locations in 73 countries throughout the world. The chain includes Radisson Blu, Park Inn and Park Plaza hotels. Many of the locations are at airports including the Radisson Blu at Stansted.

Radisson typically gives 10% discount off their standard rates for “senior citizens”, but the availability of this discounted rate depends on hotel and dates booked. “Senior citizen” appears to be anyone over 50 years old!

Access reservations by clicking on the Radisson logo and under ‘Select a Rate Type’ choose ‘Senior Citizen Rate’. For all hotels in the group, including Park Inn and Park Plaza, then select ‘All Carlson Rezidor hotels’.

Ramada Hotels and Days Inn

Ramada Hotels and Days Inn are part of the Wyndham Group, with 7,150 hotels worldwide and choices in every category from upscale to economy.

Typically they give 10% discount, but can be 15% or more, for Seniors (60 and over) from their standard flexible rates, but the availability of the discounted rates depends on hotel and dates booked.

Access reservations for all hotels in the group including Days Inn by clicking on the Ramada logo and then under ‘Special Rates & Codes’ select ‘Senior’.

Accorhotels

The largest hotel chain in Europe, includes Sofitel, Mercure, Novotel, Ibis, Formule 1 and others.

Although one blog has suggested that it is worth checking with reservations for Senior discounts on a hotel-by-hotel basis, I have not been able to find any evidence that this chain provides any special treatment for seniors. A pity, and out of line with most major chains. I’m following this up with Accorhotels and will keep you informed of any developments.

Logo_Accorhotels_blue_88x31In the meantime, I’ll include Accorhotels here as some good rates, particularly for weekends, can be accessed by clicking on the Accorhotels logo and then selecting ‘Offers and Deals’.

Keep checking this page for deals at other hotel chains.
